POLICY AND GUIDeLINES for
requests through
Silver state missions offering
Purpose: The Silver State Missions Offering (SSMO) exists to support Nevada Baptist churches in advancing ministry efforts that align with the mission of the Nevada Baptist Convention.
Application Evaluation:
Upon submission of a request to the Nevada Baptist Convention, the request will be evaluated by a staff team based on the following:
- A clear description of the proposed event or ministry.
- A reasonable funding request in relation to the total budget.
- Active participation in the Nevada Baptist Convention.
- Regular giving to the SSMO offering.
- Regular giving to the Cooperative Program.
- Willingness to report how funds supported ministry goals.
If a request is unclear, incomplete, or appears excessive, a team member will follow up with the requesting church before making a final decision.
Eligibility Guidelines:
Requests will be evaluated as follows:
- Churches not actively participating in the Nevada Baptist Convention may have requests denied or reduced at the team’s discretion.
- Churches not giving to SSMO within the past 12 months may have requests denied or reduced at the team’s discretion.
- Churches not giving to the Cooperative Program within the past 12 months may have requests denied or reduced at the team’s discretion.
- Churches unwilling to submit a ministry impact report will have requests denied.
Funding Guidelines: (For churches meeting all eligibility requirements)
- Maximum of $2,500 per request.
- Maximum of two requests per calendar year.
- Smaller requests below $2,500 may be fully funded depending on the team’s assessment.
Annual Cap:
No church may receive more than $5,000 total per calendar year through SSMO grants.
Reporting Requirement:
All approved churches must agree to provide a follow-up report outlining how the funds supported their ministry efforts and impact.
